PROPHETIC PERSPECTIVES
Gen.15.5 - Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be."
A perspective is an interpretation of a particular situation or subject based on how you view, see or visualize that situation. So a person's perspective is defined by how he or she sees or interprets a particular situation.
There are three broad ways we can see things;
1) Through the "Eyes of God".
2) Through the "Eyes of the devil".
3) Through the "Eyes of men".
Usually, what you see forms your opinion. It means what you see and how you see a thing influences your opinion.
Prophetic Perspective is seeing and interpreting things with the "Eyes of God". It is seeing situations from God’s perspective or viewing situations the way God sees them. In Gen 15:5, God was calling Abraham to "see with the Eyes of God" a picture of fruitfulness as opposed to the picture of barrenness he was "seeing with his eyes".
Prophetic perspective also involves seeking to know God's view point or opinion on trending local, national or global issues. For instance, what is God saying concerning the rule of law in Nigeria or what is God saying concerning the war in Ukraine?
Two reasons why it is important to know God's view on trending global issues.
1. To enable you fulfil your mandate as an Ambassador of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).
An Ambassador is appointed to represent his country in another country and he is expected to defend his country's interest at all times. His opinions are usually an expression of the opinions of his home country and not his own. He keeps his personal opinions to himself, but always declares the opinion of his home country.
As an Ambassador of Christ, it is important for you to know God's opinion on local and global trending issues, so that you can communicate and defend the interests of the Kingdom you represent.
Also, it is important to know God's opinion so that you can take sides with Him or "stand with God"; as Elijah would say, before God whom i stand (1Kings 17:1). You are either on God's side or on the side of "science", "men" or 'the devil". Remember, one with God is the majority and majority they say carries the vote.
Your opinions consciously or unconsciously reflect whose side you are on.
2. As a Prophet you are God’s mouthpiece or Oracle on the earth (1 Peter 4:11), so your utterances should be a reflection of God’s opinion or perspective on trending local and global issues and not a reflection of your personal opinions or experiences.
As "prophetic people" we are not to close our ears to what is happening around us. When we know what is happening around us, as well as what God is saying concerning those issues, it gives us an advantage over others as a result of the superior information available to us.
In 2Kings 7:1, while the Israelite’s saw and experienced famine, Elisha through the "Eyes of God" saw abundance in 24hrs. So while others were troubled and some had to eat human flesh to survive, he was at peace because he knew something they didn't know.
How to operate with Prophetic Perspective as an Intercessor.
1) Ask God to reveal His opinion to you on any trending issue of interest to you.
2) Bring yourself into alignment with God’s opinion. (Let His revealed opinion become your opinion and communication on that issue)
3) Bring the world system into alignment with God’s perspective in the place of intercessory prayers. (Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven, Matt 6:10).
As you journey with God in 2025, as His representative or Oracle (Mouthpiece), one of the questions you must constantly ask yourself concerning the situations you will find yourself in is, what is God seeing that I am not seeing that He wants me to see?
When you see what God is seeing, you can say what God is saying.
God bless you!
