ACTIVATE YOUR SPIRITUAL SENSES

 

God created every one with the inert ability to discern both physical and spiritual activities and manifestations around them. A sense gives you the ability to discern particular manifestations or activities in an environment.

Hebrews 5:14. says - But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

The world we live in is made up of 2 realms, the physical and the spiritual realm. God created us with 2 sets of senses; physical senses and spiritual senses, so that we can operate and interact with the physical realm as well as the spiritual realm.

Your physical senses; the sense of Sight, Hearing, Touch, Taste and Smell, help you to discern physical manifestations or activities in the physical realm or environment, while your spiritual sense of Sight, Hearing, Touch, Taste and Smell, help you to discern spiritual manifestations or activities in the spiritual realm or environment.

When you are physically asleep, your physical senses are asleep too; they exist but are temporarily unable to effectively interact with your physical environment, so you are oblivious of all the physical activity or manifestations around you.

Similarly, many of us are asleep spiritually and as a result our spiritual senses are also asleep and inactive, making us oblivious of all the spiritual activity or manifestations going on around us. This makes us susceptible to different kinds of spiritual attacks and hinders us from taking advantage of both physical and spiritual opportunities that God has made available for us due to our spiritual ignorance or slumber. So we end up operating at a disadvantage or at the mercy of spiritual and physical forces.

Three reasons why you should Activate or Awaken your spiritual senses;

1.     God is a God of purpose; He does what He does for a reason. If he gave you physical eyes, He expects you to "use them" to see with in your physical environment, so you can be aware of what is happening in the physical realm. He also gave you spiritual eyes, so you can see into the spirit realm and be aware of what is happening in your spiritual environment.

2.      You can't walk with God with your physical eyes alone.  You need your physical eyes as well as your spiritual eyes. Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden because they based their decision only on what their physical eyes saw. 2 Cor 5:7, says ‘For we walk (with God) by faith and not by sight...’ Faith is not a product of what your physical eyes see, but a product of what your spiritual eyes see.

3.     God wants us to activate or awaken our spiritual senses, so that we can enhance our fellowship with Him and enforce our dominion mandate on the earth. Enhancing your relationship with God guarantees your success in your God given assignment on earth.

In the Garden of Eden when man became more reliant on the physical information he received with his physical senses other than the spiritual information available to him through his spiritual senses he lost control over his circumstances, he was no longer in charge, he lost his place and his fellowship with God suffered a setback. He began to struggle and suffer. 

However, when you become more reliant on the spiritual information available to you through your spiritual senses, the reverse is the case. Your life is filled with ease and your fellowship with God is enhanced and you can exercise control over your life and circumstances.

 

PRAYER 

Father in the name of Jesus, please activate all my spiritual senses so that I can enjoy my fellowship with you, enforce my dominion mandate on earth and take full advantage of all the physical and spiritual opportunities in and around my life.
