THE TEST OF HONOUR

Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." Gen.22.1

Honour is giving someone a higher place of recognition than oneself or the recognition of a person above every other person from amongst a group of people.

Therefore the LORD God of Israel says: "...for those who honour Me I will honour, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. 1Sam.2.30

Honouring God is giving Him first place in your life. You honour Him above yourself, your desires, your needs, your family, friends, colleagues and people in general.

Honouring God involves relegating everything to the background in order to give God first place in your life. Does your appetite for food, money and worldly pleasure take first place in your life?

God will always pass you through His "TEST OF HONOUR" to know what takes first place in your life; food, money, worldly pleasure or God Himself.

Sometimes, when God calls you to fast, He is not interested in starving you, but wants to test you to see what comes first in your life, food or God. If you give up your food for God, then you have demonstrated to God that He comes first before your need for food.

Moses in Deuteronomy 8.3, said – “...that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD”.

Also Job in Job.23.12, said, - “...I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food”.

When God calls for 10% of your Income as Tithe or for a seed offering, He is not looking for money to spend, remember, He owns the cattle upon a thousand hills. He only wants to know what is more important to you, your love for money or God.

If you obey Him, then God is more important to you, but if you decline, then money is more important to you. Proverbs 3: 5 says "Honour the Lord with your substance and with the first fruits of your increase".

When God calls you to spend time with Him in prayer and instead you choose to watch TV or immerse yourself in social media, you have communicated your desire to honour yourself and your entertainment needs above God’s presence.

Remember, your God is a Jealous God, and He wants to have first place in your life at all times.  Exod.20.5, says, “You shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God...”

A consistent Life of Honour to God can attract the following blessings;

1. His word becomes His bond in your life and in your mouth.

1Sam.3.19 - So Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.

2. You attract the Help of God and unsolicited help from men.

Job.42.10 – 11...Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.

3. Access to limitless spiritual and physical possibilities.

Gen.22.16 - 17, and said: "By Myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son-- blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand...”

4. You attract uncommon spiritual insights and encounters.

Exod.33.11 - So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend...

PRAYER OF IMPARTATION

I declare over you in the name of Jesus, from today, the grace to Honour God above everything and everyone else, is released upon you.
