Genesis 2:19 - And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature that was the name thereof. In Genesis chapters 1 and 2, we were told God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th day. God evidently had a script or a plan that He followed daily in order to create the entire world and part of His plan was to create man on the 6th day and give him responsibility over the earth. Adam's very first assignment was to name all the animals that God created. God could have named the animals himself, but He decided to give Adam the responsibility of naming all the animals. Why would God ask Adam to name the Animals? God was the creator and anyone who creates anything has a responsibility to determine its looks, purpose and name.
